Cypress House

Located in Orange and opened in 2002, the Cypress House provides affordable housing only for those enrolled in the Mental Health Association’s wrap-around homeless outreach program. Each resident receives intensive case management services from MHA in addition to the programs and support offered by HOMES.

Amenities: Cypress House has a small laundry building on the property with a free washer and dryer, a basement for storing residents’ property, and a vegetable garden in the backyard.

Funding: This house was purchased using state funding for the homeless outreach program.

Anaheim House

Established in 1999, the Anaheim House is close enough to Disneyland to enjoy the nightly fireworks and features a family room as well as a living room, a covered patio in the backyard, many houseplants and a large fish tank.

The Anaheim Housing Authority is the only HA in Orange County currently accepting applications for a Section 8 waiting list. Applicants who live or work in Anaheim receive preference on the list, and residents of our Anaheim House typically receive a Section 8 certificate within two to three years.  (The average wait for Section 8 in the remainder of the County is four to ten years.)

Funding: HomeAid of Orange County participated in the remodel of this home to convert it into a six-bedroom house.

Riley House

Located in Orange and opened in 1992, the Riley House is a two-story home, with four bedrooms housing males downstairs and two bedrooms for females upstairs. There is a storage shed in the backyard for residents’ property as well as donated furniture intended for eventual use by graduates of HOMES. All of the residents at this house have Section 8 certificates, and five of them have lived together in the house for more than six years. The garage in this house has been sound-proofed as an informal music studio, as a band made up of mental health clients from inside as well as outside of HOMES practices there several times per week.

Funding: HomeAid of Orange County participated in the remodel of this home to convert it into a six-bedroom house when the house was acquired in 1992.

Fullerton House

Located in Fullerton and opened in 1990, the Fullerton House is a two-story home with four bedrooms for males downstairs and two bedrooms for women upstairs. The backyard has fertile fruit trees, and the house is located near a movie theater and many shops and restaurants.

Funding: Alice Carey Thomson helped provide the down payment on this house, and it is sometimes referred to at the ACT house in honor of her participation.

El Modena House

Located in Orange and established in 1990, the El Modena House has two bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs. The house is located near the hills in Orange, and features a white picket fence around the front yard. This is the only single-gender house at H.O.M.E.S., providing housing for four females.

Funding: This house is owned by the county and HOMES leases it.

Rome House

Located in Anaheim and opened in March of 2008, the Rome House is a beautifully remodeled two-story home with four bedrooms downstairs and two upstairs. There are four bathrooms, one of which has a whirlpool bath. Every room has its own television complete with Directv. The upstairs has its own living room and television in addition to the two bedrooms and one bathroom. There is a large backyard complete with patio furniture, BBQ and a vegetable garden. The house is occupied by six older adult clients from the county's FSP Oasis Program. Grab bars were installed in the bathrooms to help accomodate the needs of the older clients.

Funding: Privately owned while HOMES applies for MHSA funding (in process).
