What is H.O.M.E.S. Inc?
H.O.M.E.S., Inc. is a 501(c3) nonprofit organization. We provide housing and support for people with psychiatric disabilities. Starting over 20 years ago, our housing programs encourage independence and self-reliance. H.O.M.E.S. helps individuals succeed in their own communities. We have over 300 graduates from our programs.
In the past few years, the Board has undertaken an extra focus by providing housing for homeless individuals with mental illness. As a result of the new effort, we now have built 30 apartments and have purchased one 6 bedroom house for the homeless. This is the only program of its type in Orange County.
H.O.M.E.S. provides transitional and permanent housing in four other houses. Currently the total housing we provide is for 57 residents.
Resident pay rent which is affordable for adults receiving SSI disability income. Each resident has their own bedroom. All are expected to be active and productive outside the home for at least 20 hours each week. Our small staff works closely with case managers, residents and dedicated volunteers from the community to help residents develop the skills they need to live independently.
Residents have the opportunity to manage their daily activities in a safe, affordable, stable, and supportive environment.
